Detoxcellence for iPhone and Android puts the Exposure Index — with a camera that recognises everyday products — the Exposure Score and a weekly swap reminder on your phone. It is free, has no account and shows no ads. Questions not answered here: hello@jukkablomberg.com.

Scan and room check

Tap the target on the Scan tab and point the phone at a frying pan, a food container, a candle, a shampoo, a water bottle or a can. Detoxcellence shows the three things the photo looks most like; tap the right one for its Exposure Index entry. Where the entry depends on it, one question follows — which coating, what is in the can, organic or conventional. Room check reads one photo of a shelf or a corner and lists the entries it may show, highest burden first, with the top swap. Recognition runs on your phone and the photo is deleted at once. It works best with one product filling the frame in good light; if none of the three is right, search.

The Exposure Index offline

Every entry of the Exposure Index — its Detox Score, the three ratings behind it, its evidence strength, its swap and the studies and sources it cites — is bundled with the app, so it works in airplane mode. When you are online the app refreshes from this site's published export and keeps the last copy; the Index tab says which version you are looking at.

The Exposure Score and its history

The Score tab is the same questionnaire as the one on this site, scored the same way. Each result is saved on your phone with its date, so you can see your score change as you make swaps. To start over, use Clear history on that tab.

The weekly swap reminder

Switch it on in the Swaps tab and pick a day and time. Once a week the app reminds you of one swap from the Index, starting with the area your Exposure Score points to. If you declined notifications, allow them for Detoxcellence in your phone's Settings, then switch the reminder on again.

Erasing your data

Everything the app keeps is on your phone: uninstall the app, or clear its storage. See app privacy for the full list.
